In view of the prevailing situation in Kashmir, we have received inquiries from our supporters regarding the welfare of CHINAR children. We are pleased to say that the CHINAR family - children, mothers and staff - are all safe. The mothers are keeping the children busy with indoor games and homework. We appreciate your concern and support and hope that peace returns to Kashmir soon.

Child Nurture and Relief (CHINAR) is an independent, non-profit organization working for the psychosocial rehabilitation of orphaned and vulnerable children in conflict areas – irrespective of race, religion, culture or gender.

Welfare - Not Warfare: One of the biggest casualties of war is the future of its youngest victims. They grow up in the shadow of gruesome violence and immense social change - often without familial protection and guidance. These children become easy recruits for all sorts of violent causes since their age and the psychological trauma of violence makes them more susceptible to manipulation. CHINAR works for the welfare of children of conflicts - especially orphans - by equipping them with the means to have a productive and peaceful future. The main focus of CHINAR programs is

· Psychosocial rehabilitation
· Teaching of non-violent means of conflict resolution
· Religious Tolerance
· Quality education
· Successful social integration
· Community involvement
